My Dad, Milford Marvin Tognazzini, born May 7, 1934 to Marvin and Virginia Tognazzini in Santa Maria California.
Daddy joined the army after high school and went to Korea as part of the MOP up crew after the Korean war. He met my Mom there, Mang Jung hi. He married her and they had their first daughter their, my sister Joan Ann. When she was six months old, they came back to the states where I was born, Carolyn V, then my sister Marie Lee and then my brother James M. He gave our Mom an American name, Cindy Lee.
Daddy joined the Navy as a Sea Bee in 1968. He was in Port Hueneme, California and then shipped off to Vietnam. He wrote us so many letters. I have copies of all of them.
This is the last letter we received from Daddy. He was killed in a Mortar Platoon fire on August 7, 1969.
I've never been to the Vietnam Memorial Wall, one day I'll go.
We are all very proud of our Dad. He served our country well. My wish for you is that you enjoy your Dad, whoever he is and whatever he does. Show him that you love him and are proud of him. You never know when he might be taken from you.
